Bill Sapsis Intimate 90 Minute Online Session

USITT CHESAPEAKE PRESENTS…

Members are invited to join Bill Sapsis for an intimate 90 minute online learning session. Event will take place on July 21st, 2020 at 10am.

Bill Sapsis announces a new training program that is social distancing compliant. There’s much more information available on the internet now that most of us are in quarantine.

These webinars are great but the information they provide tends to be general in nature and doesn’t always meet the specific needs of an organization or company. This is where Bill Sapsis can help.

Bill will bring his 45+ years of experience to your video screen for live discussions with you and your staff and crew on issues that address your specific concerns and the needs of your operation. Unlike a traditional webinar where you are lost in a sea of faces on a screen, this event will be limited to 20 participants and the content will be based on questions submitted beforehand from those registered.

1 ETCP CREDIT

Please RSVP to Tom Haughey thaughey@wcupa.edu by July 17th with your registration request and questions for Bill Sapsis.

Thank you

New Executive Committee – June 2020

Hello friends and comrades-

The election results are in and I’m proud to announce the election of Matthew Miller as our new member-at-large for the northern section, Bill Price as our new Chair, Kearston Dillard-Scott as 2nd Vice Chair, Tony Rosas as our new Secretary, and Jane Stein, as our new 3rd Vice Chair.

Outgoing Secretary, Anne Clark – has been a pillar to Chesapeake and we should all take a second to show our appreciation to her years of service. We wish her well and sincerely hope that she’ll continue to participate and shed light in these challenging times.
Thank you, Anne, from the bottom of my heart.

In this strange time of COVID, it’s important that we work together. Events have shut down; concerts are no-go, and the whole social distancing mandates have left us figuring out how to move on as technicians, artists, designers, and audience members. I encourage everyone to seek credible resources before they reopen venues or participate in events so that we can stay safe. Know that many of us will have to reinvent ourselves in the arts and that there will be those of us who even have to step away for a period of time. Art will prevail and it will take a community and constant communication to figure out how precisely we stay engaged. If you can and are able, I encourage you to make your voice heard. There is no “silver bullet” for the environment we’re now confronted with. Donate, speak up, and do what you do best. The worst thing you can do is to do nothing. Now, more than ever, we need involvement. If you have ideas, share them. If you disagree, use your voice.

For those of you who are wondering where you can contribute or how you can take advantage of Chesapeake and USITT resources, please email us at chesapeake@usitt.org.

Sincerely,

Jeremiah Brophy. former Chair

New Executive Committee

Hello friends,

The election results are in and I’m proud to announce the election of Kearston Dillard-Scott as our new member-at-large for the northern section and Seth Schwartz are our new treasurer. Both have demonstrated a passion for technical education within the mid-Atlantic region and we’re looking forward to their additional service on the executive committee.

Our previous members – Justin Stockton and Gregg Schraven – have served diligently over the years and I’d like to give a special shout out to them for their service.

Thank you, Justin.

Thank you, Gregg.

You’ve both taken this organization to the next level and we hope to do you proud moving on.

It does take a team of like-minded individuals who are willing to step out of their comfort zone in order to move the needle of education. We are deeply appreciative of those who have stepped up and those who have contributed where they can – whether it’s monetarily or with their time. Thank you.

For those of you who are wondering where you can contribute or how you can take advantage of Chesapeake resources, please email us at chesapeake@usitt.org.

Sincerely,

Jeremiah Brophy. Chair

Congratulations

Congratulations to Kim Griffin and Orli Bernstein for winning full ride passes to the USITT National Conference in Louisville, KY March 20-23.

There were a large number of qualified entrants this year.

Whether you got the award, submitted or didn’t, we are a tribe. We get better every day. Stick together and support one another. It’s a smaller world than you think. Stay teachable and motivated.

Find a mentor.

Have a good attitude if for no other reason than you’re supporting a social enterprise that DOES change lives.

Sincerely,

Jeremiah Brophy
